Project Estimator

Description

Qualified candidates will prepare conceptual and indicative cost estimates for proposals, projects and studies and ensures that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the estimate or project plan. Plan, coordinate, review, verify and analyze all aspects of estimates and estimate presentation. Helps in the maintenance of the Company estimating database and estimating tool development. Coordinate and review the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering Operations, Procurement and Construction. Provides technical advice and assistance to the Project Manager in the preparation of all levels of estimates ranging in scope and complexity from a simple factored or curve type budgetary estimate to an extremely complex multi-billion dollar lump sum bid. Interfaces as required directly with clients and senior management within the company. Appraises overall accuracy of estimates and recommends contingencies and escalation costs for estimates such as Lump Sum bids, Definitive Estimates and Interim Control Estimates. Ensures the orderly flow of project assignments through his area in keeping with schedules and within manpower budgets.

Requirements

The qualified Estimator will have a minimum of 10 years experience working on at least one of the following: process piping, power plants/generation, and/or transmission & distribution.  Must be able to document and organize a complex stream of information very quickly. Power Plant field experience is a significant advantage and should exist in this individuals background. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficient in Excel and Word. Basic knowledge of database systems. Needs both Mechanical and Electrical estimating experience.
