The job holder leads the overall design and oversees the development of cross-functional, multi-platform applications systems. He/She develops application architecture and blueprints and defines application components, platforms, interfaces, and development tools. He/She also provides technical guidance to application development teams, consults on integration and conversion issues and participates in mapping technology-independent applications architecture to the chosen technology platform.

The architect makes design choices and will dictate technical standards, including coding standards, tools, or platforms, so as to advance business goals rather than to place arbitrary restrictions on the choices of developers.

In this position they should expect to be an active Java developer while also providing strong architectural direction and guidance to several development teams that are geographically dispersed around the globe.

Candidates should possess strong verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.

Required Technical Skills:
Java, JBOSS, JDK 1.5 – 1.6, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, Apache, Linux, Subversion.

The following skills are a plus but are not required: However, the perfect candidate will also possess these skills: Microsoft .NET development skills, MVC in ASP .NET, ITIL v3 certification, continuous integration experience, Jenkins/Hudson, Repliweb and DB Wall.
