Position Summary

Under general direction of a Project Director or a senior-level Operations Director, responsible for the management and analytical design of one or more components of the overall project, and the execution of detailed project plans that relate to assignments established in the project charter. Assignments may span one or more projects that can range in size, complexity and cross functional involvement. The projects will be for ABC Drug Company, subsidiaries or its trading partners, and can include new system and/or process implementations across multiple sites.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works closely with project director or operations director to assist in the development of a project charter and manages components of the project design and implementation plans according to the guidelines established in the project charter.
  2. Manages and reports on project budgets and time lines according to project assignments made by either the project director or the operations director.
  3. Supports in the development of supplier specifications, supports the contractual negotiations and manages the execution of the plans outlined in the contracts.
  4. Manages engagement with external consultants and other outsourced resources that perform work associated with items such as material handling equipment, warehouse and business systems, building modifications and other various services.
  5. Coordinates activities with project director or operations director and other internal project teams to ensure alignment.
  6. Assists in the preparation of capital expenditure requests for projects.
  7. Responsible for project completion according to assignments including but not limited to construction/installation, inspection, testing, training, and start up.
  8. Willing to travel up to 75% of the time.
  9. Performs related duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

Requires training and experience in fields such as business administration, engineering, accountancy, sales, marketing, logistics, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of five (5) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements

  1. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience leading projects related to warehouse operations, warehouse design, warehouse and business systems, process improvement and standardization, engineered labor standards, and transportation.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to communicate (and work) effectively with people from different technical and business backgrounds, acting as a liaison, understanding and appreciating different perspectives and translating into terms necessary for any group or individual to understand.
  3. Ability to lead dynamically and energize work teams to learn and apply new skills and techniques to respond to business needs
  4. Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  5. Strong interpersonal skills
  6. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  7. Strong presentation skills; ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
  8. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  9. Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  10. Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Access databases, Word and AutoCad
  11. Prior experience in either consulting, Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or Kaizen is beneficial.
