Position Description
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for coordinating the development of various engineering projects in collaboration with members of the engineering team and project specialists. The PM manages relationships with various clients and keeps them informed about project progress to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and within budget and is also responsible for negotiating client change requests. The incumbent of this position will also manage a team of developers.
Core responsibilities
· Organize and take part in project startup and manage the project scope jointly with the project specialist;
· Identify, jointly with the project specialist, risk factors which can delay the delivery of a project, jeopardize the quality of the final system and determine preventive measures to control these risks;
· Analyze project progress in order to identify any delays and correct the situation if required;
· Coordinate the preparation of project status reports and inform client of project progress;
· Coordinate the relationship between the development team and customers within the project framework;
· Ensure the management of costs for projects according to specific objectives;
· Ensure proper document management according to internal project management processes;
· Insure the project folder is organized and maintained including all pertinent project related information;
· Responsible to inform immediate supervisor of all potential high risk situations;
· Manage and supervise project staff by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, providing feedback (as required) for the preparation of performance appraisals. Provide counsel and coaching as needed;
· Oversee the day to day office operations.
Qualifications :
· University diploma in engineering;
· 5-7 years experience in a similar role;
· 2 years experience in a management role;
· Knowledge of DOCSIS;
· Autonomous with a good sense of organization;
· Strong negotiation skills;
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
· Good comprehension of the management process for system development;
· Have good team spirit;
· Show a high level of maturity;
· Have a great sense of responsibility;
· Experience in consulting or major turnkey solution delivery (asset);
· PMP certification (asset);
· Excellent communication & written skills in English;
· Able to work with multiple priorities;
· Availability to travel ocasionally.
