Alpine Consulting Inc, an IT consulting firm located in the Chicago area (Schaumburg), is currently looking for a Project Manager. This is a full-time position. The Project Manager's primary responsibility will be to lead in the definition, coordination and management of consulting engagements for Alpine Consulting, Inc.  The Project Manager's secondary responsibility will be to support overall Alpine Consulting’s goals and help foster resource abilities and career paths.

Job Description:

- With minimal assistance and being relatively autonomous, lead a mid-size team of consultants on one or multiple projects

- Assist in preparing project proposals and estimates

- Prepare project workplan

- Day to day tracking of progress to baseline

- Determine resource task assignment and monitoring

- Act as the primary contact with the client project manager

- Analysis and definition of business requirements, functional design and documentation efforts to support the client and the development life cycle.
- Participate in Requirements Planning to ensure proper alignment of business goals with technical implementation.

- Help to define the client’s business processes related to the development work being performed.
- Lead testing group for quality assurance of the engagement.

- Attend meetings to accomplish the analysis, design and completion of the engagement.
- Solicit suggestions for better and more efficient ways for project success.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation development related and end-user documentation.
- Identify product/services enhancement opportunities.
- Identify appropriate tools/technologies to achieve end result more effectively.
- Provide a liaison role between the different technical groups and locations involved during the course of a project.

 Required Skills:

- BS or BA from an accredited university

- 5+ years working with consultants, architects and software developers in a Managerial role (project manager, engagement manager, etc.)

- 2+ years experience developing application architecture and data modeling in a development or analyst role

- 2+ years managing project requirements and mapping related business processes

- 2+ years experience with integration, data quality and business intelligence projects.  
- 1+ years experience with e-commerce software development projects.

- 1+ years of exposure to Java and other object orientated languages.

- 1+ years exposure to IBM products and support
- Experience with Agile project/development methodologies

- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio

- Good verbal and written communication skills, especially high ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders
- Dependable, organized, and highly motivated with ability to multi-task
- Can work with minimal supervision
- Self driven to accomplish goals and meet deadlines

- Ability to travel up to 75%.

Desired Skills:

- 2+ years working in a client/consulting services environment

- Experience with IBM DataStage and IBM QualityStage products

- Technical writing skills

- Big 4 or similar consulting experience
- Ability to work closely with users in defining and documenting business requirements and determining detailed functional specifications
- Must be able to work in politically charged environments
- Provide positive reinforcement and motivation to team members
- Expresses views in a diplomatic manner

- Researches problems before taking action
- Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills

- Exceptional interpersonal teamwork skills

- Willing to work extended hours on an as needed basis
