Project Manager – Software Product Development

Symphony
Services is looking for a project manager (contract position) to be based
Monday – Friday at one of its client’s location in NYC.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day-to-day
management of a software product release, scheduled for 2010. This release
consists of several product change (PC) requests to modernize the software
product.

The software product is a mature multi-asset class solution for
treasury and capital market participants in the financial industry. It is a
distributed CORBA-based application developed in C, C++, and .Net (6.5 million
lines of code).

Responsible for schedule and quality of the next
release

·        
Manage work of Symphony resources based in India as well
as Symphony’s client developers and testers based in US and overseas.

·        
Set up and manage appropriate software
development processes and metrics programs

o   Work
with client management, architects and developers in migrating product
development lifecycle from water fall to agile scrum

o   Set
up appropriate metrics program so as to collect and use process data

Experience:

·              
Experience managing software product development
and test teams located in multiple countries (US and multiple locations
overseas).

·              
Experience with software product development
lifecycles, ex. water fall, agile scrum

·              
Experience defining, collecting, and using
software development process metrics

·              
5+ years of software product development management
experience

• Experience
  managing custom software products developed in C/C++ and Java
• Experience
  managing software products based on Windows and Solaris operating systems

·              
Bachelor or Masters Degree in a relevant area.

·              
Demonstrated strengths in mentoring and
leadership, with good communication skills.

·              
PMP certification would be a plus.
