Project Manager Term of Project

Term of Project status - this is a benefit eligible position. Position is scheduled to last for at least 6 months.

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of one or multiple complex curriculum development projects (including courseware and custom portals) to deliver tasks on time, within budget and scope. Increase client satisfaction through continuous improvement and delivery of quality products and services.

Primary point-of-contact for the client in planning and delivering the service solution by interacting regularly with Solutions Consultants, Vendors and other Project Managers.

Develop and cultivate relationships with sister company editorial teams to understand offerings within various disciplines.

Develop project plan. Manage, monitor and communicate to project team information regarding project plan and plant budget to ensure that project is within guidelines. Redevelop project plan and budget if project scope changes; communicate changes to team and management.

Create and manage project schedule schedules and documentation; defines and assigns work to consultants assigned to projects; monitors and controls work in progress for accuracy; and provides active assistance and/or prioritizes project work load to meet schedules and/or resolve complex production issues and client requirements. Evaluate quality and appropriateness of materials.

Establishes metrics and monitors progress to assure compliance, client satisfaction and attainment of company commitments and objectives; reports progress to appropriate levels of management and client.
Recruit, hire, and mentor project team members as necessary. Assign projects to direct reports, assess work of direct reports, assist in the professional development, set goals, and write yearly performance appraisals of direct reports (if any)


3 ' 5 years of experience in project management leading clients and team members through complex, medium or long-term projects required. Previous experience working in educational or publishing environment preferred. Background in content/knowledge management, digital asset management, as well as with education related technologies a plus.

College degree or its equivalent years of education and successful project management work experience is required.

Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate, problem solve, short term and long term projects required. Ability to multitask and foster effective relationships, strategize and problem solve, and provide solid customer service is essential. Candidate must have ability to work independently while also collaborating with others. Understanding of non-traditional and for-profit colleges, including universities and educational institutions, is preferred. Demonstrated experience with all Microsoft Office products is necessary. Knowledge of learning management systems is a plus. PMP Certification a definite plus.

The incumbent spends some time using a computer keyboard and mouse, which requires repetitive movements of the hands. The position requires extensive reading and verbal communications are necessary in meetings, personal contacts and via telephone to convey ideas and exchange information. This position does require travel to client locations as well as attendance to various conferences.
