HNTB Corporation’s Portland Office is seeking an experienced Project Manager and Transportation Leader. The position is responsible for developing and managing client relationships and building the Portland-area practice. The successful candidate is also responsible for identifying, leading project pursuits, contracting and managing the successful delivery of selected multi-disciplined projects. The successful candidate will serve as the primary client contact for roadway projects with revenues in excess of $1,000,000/year. The successful candidate will have full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including project coordination, technical oversight, schedule and cost control, change management and QA/QC. Position duties to include: 1. Manage client relationship with one or more transportation agencies in Oregon or SW Washington. 2. Monitor sales and project performance for selected clients to meet goals. 3. Identify, lead project pursuits, and manage the contract development and successful delivery of selected multi-disciplined projects. 4. Manage projects and resources (HNTB employees and sub-contractors) to develop quality deliverables on-time and within budget. Has full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including project coordination, technical oversight, schedule and cost control, change management and QA/QC. 5. Lead mentoring efforts and provide technical guidance to young professionals. 6. Convert, expand and grow HNTB’s current client contracts, projects and task orders. 7. Provide leadership to the growing Portland inter-disciplinary team by fostering creative and collaborative problem solving and working with staff on performance improvements and career planning. 8. Functions as a key member of the office and district leadership team.
Qualifications
Candidates must have:
• P.E., Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 15 years of relevant transportation experience;
• Proven client management with state or municipal transportation agencies in Oregon and/or Southwest Washington;
• Track record of successful ($1 Million+) business development efforts (building a multidiscipline practice or a department);
• Proven relationship building and listening skills;
• Broad based perspective of customer service and exceeding customer expectations;
• Successful track record of project management experience with the planning and/or design aspects of roadway projects (highways, major arterials, interchanges, city streets, etc.);
• Strong team leader and mentor; and
• Active member in local/regional transportation organizations like ACEC, ASCE, WTS, etc.
