Description: This is a position on a Unix engineering and support Team in Technology Engineering. The Team manages approximately 1,000 Unix/Linux servers and workstations. The primary focus of the Team is to provide a highly available, consistent, and resilient operating environment for application deployments. This includes both engineering design and support responsibilities. There is an on-call pager that is rotated through the engineers and the on-call requirements include being able to provide support remotely quickly and come on-site to address support issues directly. Must have good interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills: - Minimum 5 years of Solaris, HP-UX and Linux administration (must be proficient in at least one; two or more preferred) in a commercial enterprise environment.
- Storage Networking experience
- Perl Scripting
- Experience with Unix Performance Tuning
- Strong Trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to develop time estimates for project schedules, monitor progress and provide accurate and timely reports.
- A minimum of 5 years IT experience on multiple platforms/technologies
- Ability to provide Leadership within a specific technology area, or across multiple technology areas, to complete root-cause
analysis, perform testing, provide documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with Customers at all levels (Leadership and Non-Leadership)
- Ability and willingness to mentor others
- Ability to multi-task

This is a replacement opening. There are 11 people on the team. Envrionment north of 2000 Servers in the department .. Scripting knowledge is a big plus.
Some perl is a plus... Storage is not required but a plus...
Could go longer than six months, but for now its a six month opening.
Someone has a good sense of humor but is a hard worker is what we are looking for. The department is extremely busy, someone with minimal direction.
Some on call shift work is required.
