Project Permitting Engineer

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-BS degree in Civil Engineering with Environmental Permitting Experience (A Masters Degree may be substituted for 3 years experience).
-Registered Professional Engineer
-15 years engineering experience in industrial landfill closure, landfill siting, landfill permitting, hazardous materials handling, power plant impoundments, levees and/or other water control structures.
-Must have knowledge of coal-fired power plants, CERCLA or RCRA site investigations, hazardous waste cleanup and remediation, performing environmental risk assessments, interpreting RCRA and CERCLA regulations and preparing application documents with minimal guidance and oversight.


Job Description :
Functions as a Project Civil engineer and key staff to permitting group. Reviews and interprets RCRA and CERCLA regulations, NPDES regulations, and storm water requirements at multiple government levels and their applicability to industrial and public utility operations, especially coal-fired plants. Conduct site investigations, remediation, and risk assessments. Evaluate geotechnical settings, interpret soils data and apply to earthen structures for the retention and control of solids, liquids, and sludges, especially coal combustion by-products. Prepare permitting applications. Develop new client relationships and expand existing relationships to expand work assignments. Perform multiple tasks with minimal direction and oversight by others in a timely and organized manner assuring accuracy of the work product on time and on budget.
