













We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to lead development efforts within out Discovery and Analytical Sciences (DAS) business unit.
Services provided by DAS include toxicology, pharmacology, DMPK, analytical chemistry, biomarkers and systems biology, forensic sciences, environmental and industrial sciences, and support for early stage drug development.
The Business Development Manager will work with our senior scientific staff to formulate and meet our business development goals.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Market Research
* Conduct market research on federal clients, competitors, and market trends in support of DAS;
* Review budget submissions, pending appropriations bills, agency strategic plans, and websites
* Create detailed client and competitor profiles with input from technical staff, public sources, and third-party data services, and update them biannually;
* Perform analysis of key trends, competitive landscape, and possible barriers to entry.
* Identify target market segments relative to research offerings, determining criteria for market positioning, and establishing approximate market size.
* Assist research staff in identification, tracking, and qualification of new business opportunities;
Business Development
* Assist in preparation of reports for pipeline and capture review meetings
* Develop pipeline analyses in cooperation with other DAS staff
* Participate in the development of case studies, white papers, and other targeted marketing collateral.
* Provide research and other support to capture teams, as needed.
Other
* Provide as needed support for DAS priorities, e.g. developing common taxonomy for service offering or identifying key agency contacts;
* Provide support on special projects as assigned (e.g., research, analysis, and writing), as needed;
Minimum qualifications include the following:
* BA/BS in public policy, marketing, communications or other relevant field;
* Masters degree preferred.
* Ten years experience in sales, account management within a Contract Research Organization environment.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
* Demonstrated writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment
* Self-starter
* Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Interest and experience in life sciences
* Familiarity with federal budgeting, procurement, or grant process
* Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel pivot tables ***
