Proposal/Project Manager

Job Summary
 
ALSTOM Hydro US Inc. is seeking experienced Proposal/Project Manager based in our home office.  The office is located in the south metro area of Denver, Colorado, which is about fifteen miles from Downtown Denver and conveniently located to several surrounding suburban neighborhoods.  ALSTOM Hydro's office offers a quiet working environment with the atmosphere of a small business.
 
The Proposal/Project Manager is in charge of proposal / project development, management and analysis (reparation, planning, organization, technical and industrial strategies, follow up, cost/price development and maintenance), and financial (budget, cash flow, revenues, currencies, billing) of service projects.
 
Essential Responsibilities

  •  Analyse request for quotations (RFQs).

  •  Analyse the technical/commercial content of the Client's RFQ documents and participate to establish the proposal strategy.

  •  Organise the team members, evaluate their submittals and establish a winning solution taken into account the technical/commercial elements and client  specific requirements.

  •  Determine the cost, participate in the establishment of market prices, prepare the subcontractor RFQs, the commercial conditions, the marketing documents,   write and consolidate the tendering documents.

  • Definition and efficient management of all activities linked to the contract execution (from order registration up to the end of the warranty period).

  • Owner of all projects under responsibility, and accountable for the results to reach the expected objectives.

  • Takes all major decisions concerning the quality, the contractual commitments and the objectives/budgets realization.

  • Direct contact of our clients.  Négotiate options, extras, arbitration on contractual claims.

  • Participate in the development of tools and activities used in the proposal preparation and project management process.

  • Propose improvements to the work process to maintain cost controls

  • Make recommendations related to subcontractors utilization.

  • Participate in purchasing negotiations.

  • Propose contingency plan for projects experiencing difficulties in order to meet project objectives and insure client satisfaction.

 


Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business
     


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • 5 to 10 years experience in hydropower generation

  • Technical and commercial knowledge of the hydroelectric business

  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple service orders and projects.

  • Ability to prioritize and establish action plans

  • Understands the budget process and manages costs.

  • Proven success in negotiating options, change orders and claim settlements.

  • Utilizes strategic planning skills and assertiveness in order to increase competitiveness

  • Proficient in Microsoft office products including Word,  Excel and Power Point

  • Excellent reasoning ability, critical thinking skills and organizational ability

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel.

  • Ability to be proactive in seeking and implementing initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction
