












The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) is seeking a Psychometrist to support the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) at Ft. Bragg, NC. HJF provides administrative and management support to DVBIC. DVBIC is multi-site medical care, clinical research and education center. It is a unique collaboration of the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system, and civilian partners. The mission of DVBIC is to serve active duty military, their dependents and veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) through state-of-the-art medical care, innovative clinical research initiatives and educational programs. DVBIC is primarily responsible for support of clinical operations in the DVBIC network which includes 10 military treatment facilities, 5 veteran hospitals and 2 community re- entry civilian programs. In addition, the office has visibility and contributes to the expertise of DoD level related clinical activity related to traumatic brain injury. Responsibilities: 1. Functions as a relatively autonomous Psychometrist in administering, scoring, and compiling the results of batteries of psychological tests. 2. Conducts psychological testing of subjects in support of research studies as directed by Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) Headquarters. Conducts psychological testing of WRAMC beneficiaries including active duty service members, family members, and retired service members. 3. Provides services to service members with deployment related injuries including those who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF). 4. Assignments involve: (a) administering and scoring psychological tests using standard procedures; (b) recommending and implementing modifications to standard procedures for individual patients; (c) appropriately managing patients manifesting behavioral or emotional disturbances and; (d) communication and consultation with supervising licensed psychologists. The incumbent maintains rapport with patients and adjusts the level and manner of interaction to promote optimal effort and test validity. 5. Compiles written case history, patient complaints, test results, and other clinically relevant information for use in the subsequent assessment and diagnosis of patients by the supervising psychologist. Observes and reports patient behavior, emotional status, and motivation during testing. 6. Enters test results and other information into a computerized database and manages the database. 7. Maintains security of psychological testing materials (including notebook computers); monitors the supply of materials; and coordinates the ordering of needed. 8. Assists in the administration and scoring of psychological and neuropsychological tests in the outpatient clinics of assigned department. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires in-depth knowledge of standard administration and scoring procedures for the variety of psychological tests used to assess patients. Basic working knowledge of the principles and concepts of clinical psychology, particularly psychometric principles. Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Receives general oversight and technical guidance from the supervising psychologist who makes assignments and furnishes guidance and instructions on unfamiliar procedures and problems not covered by standard guidelines Guidelines: Guidelines include both written, (technical manuals, SOPs, etc.) and unwritten policies and practices requiring use of judgment and interpretation. Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in psychology Minimum Experience: 2-4 years Physical Capabilities: Walking, including escorting subjects, standing, bending, and carrying light items. May encounter or work with patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive. Work Environment: Works in a well-lighted and heated office, may be required from time to time to work in an Emergency Room setting.
