Western States Petroleum Association (WSPA)
Petroleum industry trade association is seeking a manager to oversee external advocacy programs and issues. Position primarily represents five Bay Area petroleum refineries before public agencies, including the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and Regional Water Quality Control Board.
Successful candidate will work from his or her home office to provide technical and policy guidance to Association committees, member companies and WSPA senior management on environmental matters – including regulations, rule development, permitting and related issues.
Candidate must maintain current knowledge of regulatory (and, as appropriate, legislative) issues relating to the petroleum and/or energy industry. Also must develop and maintain positive working relationships with WSPA members, regulatory agencies, industry organizations and third parties. Will provide staff and administrative support to internal association committees, including task forces and working groups, as directed.
Experience in public affairs and energy issues is important; BS or BA in engineering, environmental or related field preferred. Requires a high level of self-motivation and initiative, communication skills and consensus building skills.
Multi-tasking skills and the ability to work under strict deadlines are must-have qualities. Computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) are required.
