Job title: Purchasing Manager
Department: Purchasing
Position responsibilities:
· Keep abreast of market conditions and industry developments
· Select, qualify and certify appropriate suppliers based on aligned business strategies
· Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships including visiting and supporting suppliers
· Negotiate, conclude and maintain supply agreements in regards to price, quality and customer service
· Perform supplier business reviews for key suppliers and risk management analysis
· Develop purchasing concepts for the protection of exchange rate risks
· Analyze low-cost-country sourcing objectives and perform cost-efficient projects
· Responsible for purchasing goods and services for the company in an efficient and economical manner
· Expedite deliveries and conduct follow up when required
· Achieve substantial cost reduction
· Work closely with operations and engineering to maintain a "just-in-time" level of inventory
· Keep planning personnel informed on raw material status
· Produce required reports in a timely manner
· Responsible for the Procurement team
· Assign work and ensure that workload is evenly distributed among the team and that individual strengths / skill sets are considered
· Responsible for quality assurance for work performed
· Provide leadership, communication, and coaching to employees; cultivate a motivated employee environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership
· Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
· Ensure a proper training of all group members
· Continuously review and improve processes and procedures within your department
· Ensure and provide ongoing communication and consulting with all involved internal departments (i.e. sales, engineering, project management)
· Communicate purchase program information to all levels of management
· Other duties as assigned
Skills/Abilities:
· Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering
· CPM certification strongly preferred
· Minimum of 10 years' purchasing experience in an electro/mechanical manufacturing environment
· Purchasing experience of large complex machinery based on engineering specifications
· Must be able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Material; interpret equipment shop testing specified by engineering
· Experience in preparing request for bids, evaluating bidders and expediting vendors
· Should have previous contact experience with suppliers including some negotiating skills/experience and customer service background
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Skilled negotiator
· Good PC skills and working knowledge of ERP systems
· Ability to work independently, but also in a team with a positive attitude
· Strong multi-tasking skills
· Ability to take responsibility
· Detailed-oriented and well organized
· Very good problem-solving
· Supervisory experience is necessary
· Willingness to travel (national / international)

· This position reports to the Vice President of Administration
· Compensation depends on experience and training background
