Leading food manufacturer located in Northern New Jersey is conducting a search for an experienced
purchasing manager. Seeking qualified candidates with strong
negotiating, commercial, analytical, and organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, qualifying and purchasing all ingredient and packaging materials for company operations.
- Identify and implement improvements in purchasing policies, procedures, and systems.
- Develop
and propose annual procurement budget, including cost savings
plan. Monitor and track performance to plan. Provide budget updates as
requested. - Establish continuous improvement objectives with key vendors. Drive cost savings opportunities by vendor and by quarter.
- Support the Company's new product development activities. Source new items that will contribute to company profit.
- Track economic market conditions and indicators that affect the finished prices up or down on material supply costs.
- Support production schedules and achieve just-in time inventory objectives.
- Monitor vendor performance to procurement terms and performance standards. Conduct annual vendor evaluation.
- Work with managers to develop purchase specifications.
- Develop contingency plans to insure supply security of materials.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years direct purchasing management experience
- Delivered significant procurement savings to company operations.
- BA or BS degree preferred.
- Experienced negotiator with strong business ethics and good business judgement.
- Demonstrated supplier management skills.
- Very good planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
