psychiatric nurse practioner

      Psychiatric center is seeking 20-40 hour psychiatric nurse practioner.   The philosophy of our Center is over 30 years of psychiatric experience by the psychiatrist Dr. Starr and his staff.

The Center aims to provide a high quality of mental health care by using the concept of differential therapeutics and a team approach using a medical model.   The clinic is set in a beautiful building on the South Shore in Brockton 40 minutes from the cape and Rhode Island and 40minutes from downtown Boston.  It draws patients not only from Brockton, but from the nearby well to do commmunities of Easton, Sharon, Canton and the Bridgewaters, as well as drawing from other states such as New Jersey, Pennslvania, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.  The Center has great diversity in terms of diagnosis and treats all types of psychiatric illness.  It also has a subspecialty in adolescent psychiatry (Dr. Starr is the past president of the New England  Society for Adolescent Psychiatry) and addiction psychiatry.

     Differential therapeutics is simply a concept in which a patient is first correctly diagnosed and then the right psychiatric modality or combination of modalities is used at the right time in the treatment.  We care deeply about our patients and are a referral source for patients sho have not improved in other venues.

     Psychiatrist nurses and therapists who have worked at Starr Psychiatric Center have greatly enjoyed their experience and atmosphere and have often increased their time commitment to the Center.

     Psychotherapy combined with psychopharm is encouraged if so inclined, although the percent of each type is flexible depending on the interests and needs of the Center.  The staff is dynamic and there is a very stimulating, professional environment.  The position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and learning.
