QA Engineer Stf

Description:
Provide Quality Assurance oversight at Tier 2 shipyard locations. The Current program is LCS with an emphasis on program partner/subcontractor activities. Responsibilities will include QA oversight of all aspects of ship construction including heavy steel fabrication, testing & Integration, subsystem installation, ships propulsion, power, heating & cooling, control, finishes etc. Material specification knowledge and process familiarity with welding, plumbing, electrical, large-scale dimensional inspection, nondestructive test techniques, mechanical and electrical testing are prerequisite for this position. Ability to interpret and provide direction regarding industry Quality standards and workmanship specifications as they pertain to the American Bureau of Shipping Naval Vessel Rules 2004 and the High Speed Naval Craft Rules. Have experience in assuring quality systems compliance in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and Configuration verification, waivers, deviations in accordance with MIL-STD-973. Strong ISO 9000 understanding with experience in auditing to the standard. Familiar with ISO/AS registration practices. Implement Supplier Process Surveillance audits deem necessary such as Purchase Order Review, Document Control, LM SCAR Corrective action, etc. Primary point of contact regarding communications back to MS2 LOB/ and Quality Management on Quality & Production status. Investigate instances of nonconforming material and facilitate the determination of root cause, corrective action/preventive action and recommendation of disposition for the Material Review Board. Reviews and/or approves these records for adequacy and compliance to procedures and quality standards. Support sell-off deliveries, support material drop ship activities that required incoming inspection. Strong leadership skills in problem resolution, identification of non-conformance and the generation of TFR/E-Log problem sheets. Must be able to communicate effectively within all organizational levels, both internally and externally. Have experience dealing with SupSHIP Golf Coast, American Bureau of Shipping and DoD or related customer experience. Must be able to develop and navigate spreadsheets with MS office Excel, create and edit MS Power Point presentations and be proficient in all other MS office applications. Required to Lead / initiate efforts in process improvement activities at the shipyard including Lean/Six Sigma events and metric collection. Must be able to work from heights and in small confined spaces. Ability to travel for extended periods is required in support of QA program needs.

Qualifications:
Strong QA background, System test experience, QMS understanding, Customer Interface/relations, ISO/AS knowledge, Mil-Std understanding, Project lead/manager, Ship building experience, Welding inspection cert., Computer skills
