Management / Supervisory:  Manages assigned department and people to meet company goals and objectives.

a)     Proposes and adheres to department operating and capital budgets.

b)     Ensures departmental equipment and resources are maintained/ functioning properly.

c)     Conducts department in a fair, non-discriminatory manner, free of any type of harassment.

d)     Manages QC Technicians

e)     Hires and trains competent staff

f)      Determines adequate work schedules for staff

g)     Assigns duties and projects as necessary to staff

h)     Establishes priorities for staff

i)      Evaluates employee performance and determine appropriate changes in compensation.

j)      Manages Sanitation Staff.

Process: Develops new and improves to existing quality control processes to comply with regulatory changes, improve product quality, lower costs, improve productivity, etc.

a)     Develops new and improves to existing quality and food safety programs (HACCP, GMPS, etc.) including required documentation.

b)     Manages pest control program.

c)     Manages organic certification program.

d)     Facilitates FDA, 3^rd party and customer audits.

e)     Manages and investigates customer / consumer complaints.

f)      Facilitates mock recalls and serves as recall coordinator.

Production:  Manage food safety and quality systems as executed by production personnel during daily production.

a)       Responsible for production food safety and quality trainings. (HACCP, GMP, Allergen, Organic, Metal Detection, etc.)

b)       Assists with developing finished product specifications.

c)       Determines and manages monitoring of in-process quality control systems.

d)       Facilitates test and hold policies as appropriate.

e)       Reviews and develops reports of process and product nonconformance and determines corrective action.

f)        Apply statistical process control techniques to establish adequate processing specifications.

g)       Conduct monthly food safety and GMP’s audits.

Purchasing:  Assist purchasing in defining specifications for raw materials from quality suppliers.

a)       Assist defining specifications of incoming raw materials.

b)       Completes supplier evaluation program for existing and potential suppliers.

Miscellaneous / Other Responsibilities:  Performs other related activities/duties and participates on project teams as assigned.

a)       Participates in necessary R&D projects

b)       Maintains high degree of confidentiality in daily operations.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field.
• 5-8 years experience in quality role with food processing company.
• AIB and regulatory inspection experience.
• 1-2 years experience in supervising.

Desirable:

• HACCP Certified
• Snack Food Experience 
• SPC Training
