SCOPE OF POSITION: QA Supply Chain – Specialist works in a web team environment to review, assess and appraise prospective suppliers for registry as an approved supplier. The specialist is accountable for supplier / co-packer approval recommendation having determined the supplier / co-packers capability to supply or manufacture safe, quality food ingredients or foods. This role is responsible to facilitate co-packer commissioning, qualification and validation. Scope includes planning, scheduling, performing audits, assessing effectiveness of supplier food safety programs and documentation, establishing and communicating corrective actions with follow up as required to support the business needs. Travel may exceed 40%.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts first party audits; reviews and appraises or conducts food safety, quality and regulatory compliance audits for both suppliers and co-packers in accord with Pinnacle Foods policy and procedures. Duties include pre-audit documentation review, audit scheduling, conducting audits, documenting and communicating audit results, tracking and corrective actions and corrective actions closure including verification. Is responsible to provides direct support to co-packer startup by establishing practices aligned to Pinnacle Foods co-packer management practices. Assists in maintaining co-packer compliance registers. Collaborates with other team and other associates to achieve results.
Provide training, education and support as requested for food safety, quality assurance and regulatory compliance to suppliers and Co-packers to meet Pinnacle Foods Supplier and Co-packer policy manual requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None – Independent Contributor
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and program reviews and familiar with third party inspection/audit models. Formal auditor training or certification is desired. Some multiple manufacturing experiences under both FDA and FSIS regulated foods or food ingredients. HACCP trained, SQF Practitioner and versed in other accepted GFSI certification schemes is desired.
EDUCATION: BS in Food Science, Microbiology or related degrees.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years industry experience with food safety auditing
SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES: Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills with high emphasis on flexibility. Proficient with business office software, results oriented and self-directed.
