The Laboratory of Molecular Technology (LMT) is a high throughput genetics and genomics laboratory providing cutting edge technologies and laboratory services to the National Cancer Institute. Under the direction of the LMT QC Manager, this position will be responsible for implementation and execution of quality programs within the LMT. participates in the creation, review and revision of standard operating procedures (SOP) and related documents. Responsible for existing assay and process optimization, evaluation of new technologies, and related technology transfer procedures. Establish controls to ensure that performance and quality of products and data adhere to accepted standards. Management of material/reagent inventory and laboratory equipment and maintenance. May assist in the implementation and execution of a training program, deviation/CAPA system, and other programs deemed necessary to improve production quality.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a scientific discipline, or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States. In addition to education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years relevant laboratory experience including QA/QC and/or assay development. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.
DESIRED SKILLS: Understanding of genetics and genomics assays and parameters. Familiarity with RNA and/or DNA microarrays and high throughput sequencing, next-generation sequencing, gene amplification, genotyping and expression technologies. Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices and/or CLIA regulations ideal. Experience with laboratory automation a plus. Experience in a high throughput production facility desired. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
