Position Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

The QA Engineer will design, implement, and execute tests for NCBI’s application portfolio, focusing on applications that display & manipulate genomic sequences. A person in this role must be able to work collaboratively with development teams to ensure NCBI's systems are reliable and perform as specified.  He or she will be responsible for devising and implementing QA strategies to test graphical display of molecular biology data and sequence retrieval systems. A person in this role should have professional experience test automation or software development, or computer science course at the Master's level.  

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, bioinformatics, biological sciences, or engineering.

Required Skills

• 2+ years in a software development experience or software test automation.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Must be able to work closely and collaboratively with software developers and project managers.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience in the areas of software testing, requirements analysis, and software design.
• Programming experience in two of the following languages: Perl, Java, SQL, C, C++, C#, or Python
  

Highly desirable Skills

• Background in Biology, Bioinformatics or Molecular Biology
  
• SQL Server, Sybase, or other relational databases.
• Experience implementing testing strategies such as unit, integration, regression, and system testing.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Autolt, Rational Functional Tester or Selenium.
