Quality Assurance Health & Safety Manager


Solely responsible for corporate-wide Quality Assurance & Safety functions for a multiple location, multinational Corporation.    

 

 

Job Description:

 

  • Ensuring personnel are fully trained and qualified for all work they do.
  • Work with team to be responsible for all vendor qualifications;, including pre-evaluation, notification, reporting, corrective action, and documentation
  • Plan the execution of analysis, inspection, design, and testing activities.
  • Review and where applicable recommend revisions, on selected engineering and procurement documents to assure the inclusion of applicable quality requirements.
  • Responsible for final approval of test and inspection reports.
  • Initiate, validate, and close non-conformance reports.
  • Ensure quality assurance results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
  • Plan, conduct, and report on vendor and internal independent assessments, surveillances, and audits, including the development of audit/assessment checklists
  • Oversee specific project related quality assurance and Health & Safety Plans  and develop procedures for review, approval, and issue in accordance with the QA & safety procedures.
  • Generate and execute plan for addressing and closing out all audit findings to ensure all are properly satisfied and documented.
  • Conduct, under supervision, quantitative system audits to assure that appropriate QA requirements are incorporated in procedures and to verify that these requirements are in compliance
  • Assist in the development of QA  and Health & Safety training programs to be implemented throughout the organization
  • Perform and document and, where applicable, approve inspections and tests.
  • Support and review of the implementation of the Nuclear Division’s Quality Assurance Program (QAP).  The QAP is ASME NQA-1 2008 compliant.
  • Initiate, validate, and close nonconformance reports issued during receipt inspections or tests
  • Review of technical and performance specifications, quality levels, sampling plans, and inspection plans or procedures
  • Coordinate efforts with Human Resources staff to ensure all facilities and locations are operating in the safest manner and in full compliance with all local, State and federal occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Act as Company Health & Safety Officer
  • Conduct quality, safety and related training classes

 

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Minimum five (5) years of quality assurance or quality engineering experience in support of design and manufacturing organizations with at least 3 years in a management or oversight role.  
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, I & C, or other relevant technical degree.
  • Ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Established management and organizational skills to allow for complete and through oversight of entire QA and Health & Safety functions
  • Prior experience working within and overseeing a formalized Quality Assurance Program such as NQA-1 or equivalent
  • Basic experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting quality assurance
  • Awareness of assessment/audit practices
  • Able to conceptualize and communicate major elements of quality assurance and quality control to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic technical knowledge in the application of engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, practices sufficient to comprehend specified engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and/or certification requirements Limited understanding of the application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques as recognized within a professional or administrative specialty
  • Must be ready, able and willing to travel to all Company locations domestically and internationally, as required. 
  • Familiarity in quality assurance program development and conducting formal assessments and/or supplier evaluations.
  • Experience reviewing design and safety basic documents (calculations, analyses, drawings specifications, design criteria, design descriptions, technical reports, plans, and requirements documents.)

 

 

 

Non-Essential Skills:

  • Nuclear Facility or military experience.
  • Prior experience as a Company Safety Officer
  • Experience developing and reviewing NQA-1 compliant procedures and processes.
  • Previous work experience with a NDT company
  • Familiarity with xray technology
  • Previous experience supporting multiple locations domestically and internationally.
  • Experience conducting NQA-1 audits and assessments
  • Previous experience as a Trainer or providing safety, quality or related training or employee briefings
  • Knowledge of all OSHA standards and requirements
