GENERAL FUNCTION -- State the intent and objective of the position.

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for the leadership and direction of quality initiatives and performance of siding production for the Hagerstown manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the development, implementation and direction of ISO for Hagerstown certification as well as maintaining quality certifications including, VSI that ensure quality in all products which enable strong product reputation, reliable performance and thus, leading and/or growing market-share.

% Of Time Duties/Responsibilities

75% Siding Product Quality Management

• This position leads quality management of siding production at the Hagerstown plant.
• Supervises quality direction and day-to-day production utilizing the systems and processes established to ensure product quality meets standards and tolerances established.
• Collaborates with R&D, Manufacturing and Marketing to ensure quality standards are integrated into new products so production performance and output is to the standards required.
• Interface with distribution customers and sales force to address product quality issues or to advise on quality standards or initiatives.
• Oversee and/or initiate the development of measurement tools that enable product evaluation.
• Oversee and/or conduct product audits to ensure finished goods conform to specified requirements.
• Implement and track all quality measurement systems and Key Operating Indicators for Siding Production.
• Monitor VSI certification and compliance.

15% Department Management

• Supervise Quality Department
• Staffing and resource determination
• Training, development and coaching of department members to ensure strong performance and morale within quality departments.
• Make selection and termination decisions.
• Ensure safety goals are achieved and regarded as priority.
• Support plant teaming activities.

10% ISO Certification

• Managed ISO Certification for Hagerstown Plant. Monitors compliance and standards to ensure continued certification.

1. Interaction with customers requires that ability to determine company responsibility and response to quality issues. Has the authority to effect settlements or other paths of action to maintain strong and responsive relations while protecting company resources.
2. Evaluate and recommend process controls to enable better measurement processes and improved product performance.
3. Designs experimental methods, conducts testing and analysis and recommends solutions to process and product issues. Determine and develop statistical tools and applications to assess product or process performance.
4. Analyze claims data and actions required to improve product and/or production performance.
5. Presents findings to senior management to reach solutions that improve company performance in cost avoidance, reduction and increased sales.
6. Make selection and termination decisions. Determine methods to best lead and coach department to achieve optimum morale.
7. Delegate responsibilities to meet deadlines and requirements both internally and externally.
8. Manage business group quality initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE -- Indicate the minimum level of formal education and work experience which is required to carry out the responsibilities of this position. When considering the experience requirement, assume that the education standard has been satisfied. Include any special knowledge, certification or license, which is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering plus 8-10 years experience in quality engineering, process engineering, and/or production management. Member of ASQ and Certificate as Engineer, Auditor or Manager is desirable. Prior supervisory experience desired. Knowledge of extrusion and assembly processes preferred. Must be able to effect positive and professional interaction with internal groups and customer base.

Manages 6: 1 Color Specialist, 1 Lab Technician, and 4 Quality Inspectors.
