Quality Assurance/Production Support Specialist

Description:
The incumbent will work on a Quality Assurance and Production team for a federal biomedical informatics product. This work entails participation in the planning, designing, testing, implementing, and evaluating of computer applications and related technology for the product; assisting the production team in evaluating the quality of service, productivity, and standards compliance of the information system(s); presenting suggestions and collaboration with the production team on modifications to operating methods and systems to improve the quality of services and products to meet diverse user needs and understanding; creating content, developing and maintaining internal and external Web pages within a Web content management system that meet 508 compliancy and government content and style standards; and, attending project team meetings with the goal of keeping management informed on specific issues of interest on project development.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills
- Advanced MicroSoft Office software skills (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, Sharepoint,Visio, Project, Powerpoint)
- Code XHTML, CSS, XML, Javascript using text editing software or WSYIWIG
- Create Web content via Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Unix shell command familiarity (e.g., grep, awk, etc) to manipulate flat files
- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) to perform queries in Oracle/MySQL database environments
- Develop and maintain online and system documentation
- Technical writing, especially for end users
- Familiarity with controlled vocabularies, terminologies, or thesauri preferred, but not necessary
- Experience in creating test scenarios for software/applications
- Knowledge of User Interface (UI) development best practices, especially Section 508 compliant interfaces/applications


Collaborative Project Development
- Ability to work in team environment throughout organizational divisions
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Clearly able to define goal, scope and timeline of projects to team members
- Ability to work with team to finish projects from concept to completion within specified timeline and to organization-wide standards
- Effectively integrates group feedback into project development
- Considers timelines/priorities of other departments when developing project plans
