
Job Title: Quality Control Manager
Location: Fort Polk, Louisiana
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Project Manager
Supervisory: Yes
Position Summary:
Manages and implements an effective QC program. Conducts inspections, reviews documents and plans. Ensures project meets quality control standards and expectations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Conducts thorough review of the project plans and specifications
2. Drafts and generates Construction Quality Control Plans
3. Coordinates the submittal effort with subcontractors and material suppliers
4. Reviews of submittals to include shop drawings, product date, certifications, design documents and test reports.
5. Assists the Site Superintendent and Project Manager with drafting and finalizing AHAs
6. Conducts on-site equipment inspections, and construction effort inspections
7. Conducts and manages the USACE’s patented three phase inspection system (Preparatory, Initial and Follow-up)
8. Coordinates and oversees all third party testing
9. Reviews design documents for Design/Build Contracts
10. Manages and implements the USACE QC System (QCS) to include the following:
a. Monthly Exposure Reporting
b. Equipment Tracking and Inspections
c. 3 Phase Inspections
d. Activity Start and Finish Dates
e. Daily Reports
f. Installed Property
11. Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Job Qualifications:
· Must be self-directed and highly motivated
· Excellent organization skills and ability to tend to details and meet deadlines
· Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills
· Minimum 5 years of progressive federal construction experience in a Quality Control position (required)
· Professional Engineer (Preferred)
· Experience with the USACE QC System (QCS)
· Proficient with a Desktop and/and Labtop Computer and more specifically MicroSoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
· Strong understanding of construction project schedules and the critical path of how it relates to Quality Control
Education and Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (required) in Engineering, Architecture, or graduate of an ACCE accredited construction management college program
· Current and Valid USACE CQM Certification (required)
· OSHA 30 (preferred)
· First Aid/CPR (preferred)
· LEED AP (preferred)
Physical Demands:
· Stands for long periods of time; walk without fail; bend and stoop
· Hears and speaks clearly; comprehend and apply verbal and written directions
· Lifts and pushes up to 50 pounds; use arms and hands as pertinent to construction
· Uses a computer, multitask and prioritize; be flexible to changing priorities
Work Environment:
· Works in extreme temperatures and possible humidity
