SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing processes adhere to the quality system of the organization, including ISO/TS related and customer requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Responsible to supervise the training and certification of operators for part inspection and the development, implementation, monitoring and control of quality procedures in a precision manufacturing environment.

·         Knowledge of ISO13485 and ISO/TS16949 quality standards in order to effectively ensure compliance with those standards in the manufacturing processes.

·         Knowledge of the APQP Production Part Approval Process:  FMEA, Control Plan, FAI,GR&R, MSA, SPC, and Process Capability leading to PPAP submission.

·         Knowledge of DOE/MVTA using statistical analysis software, Minitab or other, for identifying and classifying variation for continuous process improvement.

·         Responsible to assist in the development and implementation of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma methodologies to improve the manufacturing processes.

·         Responsible to assist in the implementation of an SPC program that meets the requirements of the quality system, customer, and ISO/TS systems.

·         Responsible for developing control plans, inspection methods, visual aids andthe continuous improvement of the quality control process to achieve zero defects.

·         Responsible for root cause 8D/5-why containment, root cause analysis, and the prevention of repeat occurrence in response to customer corrective action requests.

·         Responsible for non-conforming part,raw material, RMAanalysis and disposition.

·         Responsible for data collection and reporting: scrap, defect PPM, escapes, COPQ, and Pareto analysis applied to monitor and drive improvement.

·         Responsible to assist in the programming of optical non-contact measuring devices.

·         Ability to communicate effectively and interact with all levels in the organization and external customers.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Engineering degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or five to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of quality systems is required.  Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing preferred.  ASQ certification desirable.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of trigonometry, basic algebra, geometry, probability and statistics.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
