PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Ensures Manufacturing’s adherence to GHSP quality standards. Ensures support of operations by managing customer and supplier problem-solving.  Organizes projects and communication as they relate to quality issues and acts as a liaison between GHSP employees, both technical and managerial.

 

KEY INITIATIVES AND 90 DAY TOP 5

 

Each quarter the Quality Facilitator will coordinate, with the Quality Manager the specific results, improvements, or accomplishments required to support GHSP and departmental objectives. These will be expressed as Key Initiatives and 90 day Action Plans

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Develops and maintains Work Instructions.  The facilitator is a key member of the plant launch/change teams.  Develops and updates quality related shop floor documents including inspection sheets and lot traceability sheets.  Utilizes knowledge of the customer, the product and the process to evaluate the effectiveness of work instructions and modifies for continuous improvement.

 

Supports Manufacturing.  Is a first responder to manufacturing shark attacks.  Helps problem solve the issue and develop an action plan.  Helps determine if issues are process, part, or specification related.  Follows through on commitments.  Performs quality related training.  Maintains and updates flawless launch data and ppm data.

 

Manages supplier product issues.  Maintains strong understanding of GHSP supplier products. Responsible for investigation of defective part complaints and completion of the Material Complaint Notice. Uses the PTR database and communicates the issue and requirements to the supplier.  Prepares product for supplier returns.

 

Coordinates internal quality communications.  Relates quality alerts and suspect part status to Manufacturing and Engineering. Gathers and posts PPM information. Facilitates and/or attends Production Team meetings.  Ensures that quality postings are clear and current. Conducts shop floor audits and relates findings to appropriate individuals.  Manages quality files for documented information as required by the appropriate procedures and policies.

 

 Analyzes part discrepancies.  Utilizes blueprints, control plans, FMEA’s and metrology skills along with problem solving activity to accurately assess the nature of part discrepancies.

 

Ensures all production teams understand GHSP quality standards and policies.  Introduces new employees to GHSP quality standards and policies.  Demonstrates correct usage of metrology equipment.  Trains Team Leaders and Coordinators on job-specific quality standards. Ensures Team Leaders and Coordinators have the information and tools needed to operate within the appropriate quality standards requirements.

 

Participates as a member of the Quality Team.  Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.  Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.  Attends appropriate team meetings.  As a member of the Quality Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.  Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness.  Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

 

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. HS or equivalent

Associates in Quality preferred

ASQ certification preferred

 

Technical Experience: Experience in quality assurance systems for manufacturing

 

Industry Experience:  1-3 years in automotive lean manufacturing environment

Blueprint Reading Skills:  Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints with GD & T.

Metrology Tools: Understands the use and maintenance of calipers, height gages, gage blocks, etc.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to solve mathematical calculations.

 

Engineering Skills:  Familiar with SPC (Statistical Process Capabilities) and Metrology.  Familiar with control plans.

 

Fact Based Problem Solving: Understands and practices the process of fact based problem solving and the tools (4M’s, Y Tree, Is/Is Not, 5 Whys) associated with that process.

 

Write Effectively: Conveys information clearly and effectively through formal and informal documents; reviews and edits written work constructively.

 

Commit to Quality: Emphasizes the need to deliver quality products and/or services; defines standards for quality and evaluates products, processes, and/or services against those standards; manages quality.

 

Analyze Issues: Gathers relevant information systematically; considers a broad range of issues or factors; grasps complexities and perceives relationships among problems or issues; seeks input from others; uses accurate logic in analysis.

 

Process Evaluation/Improvement: Analyzing current processes to determine if they need to be changed or if entirely new processes need to be implemented. The focus is on identifying opportunities to improve a process by making it more efficient and/or effective while achieving superior results.

 

Workflow analysis: Decomposing high level functions into their functional pieces and then analyzing the processes to determine how efficiently the functions are being performed (e.g. is there an effective workflow within each function). and distribute to others as required.

 

Statistical Tools: is well versed in the use of SPC, regression analysis, significance testing, measurement system analysis, as quality improvement tools.

 

Design of Experiments: Uses controlled study of process variables ensuring desired output in specified processes.

 

Error Proofing: Understands the use and design of error proofing devises

 

Metrology Tools: Understands the use and maintenance of calipers, height gages, gage blocks, etc.

 

GHSP Operating systems principles and objectives (this competency appears in all job descriptions):  Knows all GHSP established operating systems (e.g. quality, safety, environmental). Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
