The individual interacts with all functional levels within the facility while performing the following quality assurance responsibilities: Layout, first piece and in process inspections, and any other inspection responsibilities required by the QA Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. This position is responsible for performing accurate layout inspections of both simple and complex metal stampings utilizing a wide variety of standard measuring and test equipment including optical comparators, hardness testing, two and three axis manual and automatic coordinate measuring machines.
2. Development of inspection instruction documentation to ensure consistent and accurate inspection of products by other inspectors and manufacturing personnel.
3. This position applies statistical methodology to analyze test data resulting from the inspection and test program.
4. This position works closely with tool and die makers to assist in the development and qualification of new tooling by providing dependable and accurate measurement of products.
5. This position is responsible for training of QA inspectors and manufacturing personnel working on first piece and in process inspection.
6. Provide recommendations to the QA Manager regarding measurement techniques to both streamline and improve repeatability and reproducibility of inspections.
7. Handles special projects assigned by QA Manager and Engineering Department.
8. Problem Solving using 8-D and 5-Why methodologies
Job Requirements:
Minimum
1. At least five years experience as a layout inspector preferably in a metal stamping environment
2. Good command of ANSI Y 14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing interpretation with practical application for functional gages.
3. Experience using Brown & Sharp Micro-Hite
4. Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 and/or ISO/TS 16949:2002 and/or ISO 13485
5. Strong knowledge and application of statistical methodologies.
6. Must be able to interpret test results, including the clear and effective communication of these results to skilled tool and die makers and engineering personnel.
7. Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
8. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.

1. Training in AIAG manuals APQP, MSA, FMEA, SPC, and PPAP
2. Experience in programming/operation of RAM Optical 3-Axis Non-Contact CMM
3. Experience in programming/operation of OGP Smartscope CMM
4. Experience Gage Design
5. Certified Quality Technician
