Position Overview:
The Quality Manager will report directly to the Global Quality Manager for the Quartz-Ceramics business with dotted line responsibility to the NQP Plant Manager. This position has responsibility in a factory specializing in the manufacturing of fused quartz products (tubing, crucibles, and rod) sold to customers in the semiconductor and lighting industries. The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality compliance, implementation & development of quality systems & ensuring efficient & effective quality assurance for all products.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
· Maintain ISO 9001:2008 systems and effectively manage related audits, both internal & external.
· Drive reduction of customer complaints (DPMO, cost of poor quality); Coach Operations Team to effectively conduct root cause analysis & implement corrective/ preventative actions.
· Lead Plant Quality Technicians to support production operations and drive process improvements.
· Lead customer audits with the appropriate product line personnel.
· Interact with sister plants to resolve interplant issues and drive Global initiatives.
· Perform Supplier Audits
· Provide product standard development.
· Lead Operations team in Lean & Six Sigma projects towards lead time reduction, yield improvement, more effective cash flow utilization and overall process excellence.
· Eliminate at-risk conditions and behaviors in the operation to continuously improve the team’s environmental, health, and safety performance. Lead and/or support all aspects of the site’s EHS programs, processes, and goals.
· Showcase the Newark Plant’s entrepreneurial spirit in support of key new product introductions and other technology innovations.
Required Education and Professional Qualifications:
· BS degree Engineering
Required Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:
· Minimum six years’ experience in quality operations
· Strong leadership and motivational skills within all layers of the business.
· Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and proven ability to use ERP system.
· Proven organizational skills in staffing, training, logistics and on multiple levels within a manufacturing environment.
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
· MS/ MBA
· Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
