Under minimal supervision, this position performs a wide variety of Quality Engineering assignments on Solid Rocket Motor and/or Liquid Rocket Engine programs in a DOD/Aerospace environment.

Produce and implement key preventive and corrective actions. This includes, but is not limited
to, reviewing and analyzing program data, identifying key weaknesses or process failures, creating plans to prevent or remedy nonconformities and ensure timely execution of agreed upon plans. In addition, provide liaison with the customer community and maintain a positive working relationship.

Manage program quality resources, including ensuring appropriate level of quality engineering resources are deployed to support the program, making decisions based on knowing program priorities, working with center of excellence quality leads to ensure appropriate quality engineering coverage and communicating assignments to the quality engineers and the appropriate program managers/leads.

Assist with the development and/or modification of engineering designs and specification for translation into robust and efficient manufacturing and quality control methods. This includes conducting process failure modes effects analysis and reviewing process planning to ensure all technical requirements are met. Drive consistency through a disciplined approach to following command media and process planning.

Support both Aerojet and vendor production as required. Participate in the disposition of discrepant hardware and the development of preventive and corrective actions.

Provide imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of quality engineering disciplines and tools.

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or physical science and at least 9 years related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Requires technical knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and technical knowledge of quality engineering tools and quality systems. The candidate must be a self-starter that can analyze complex situations or problems and develop innovative solutions. The position requires exercising considerable latitude in interpreting and determining technical objectives and approaches to assignments. The candidate needs to be a leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Prefer experience in aerospace industry and manned space flight programs. ASQ certifications are a plus. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
