Brief Job Description:
The Quality Services Technician conducts in-process, finished product and raw chemical testing. The person in this position will use IR/FTIR, NIR, GC, viscometers, rheometer, pH meters, densitometers, a variety of titration methods, and other basic wet chemistry techniques to perform testing procedures. Responsibilities of the QS Technician also include: accurate and timely reporting of acquired data through the use of various computer programs, including WinLims, Seagate Crystal & SAP, maintenance of laboratory instruments (including standardizing, cleaning, & maintenance, and calibration) and workspace (including general housekeeping of personal workspace, laboratory and retain areas). The Quality Services Technician is responsible for a number of administrative duties which includes monthly reports, housekeeping audits, initiating reports for non-conforming product, reviewing bulk batch records and preparing various reports, such as Notice of Rejection (NOR) and Notice of Obsolete Material reports (NOOM). The QS Technician must adhere to all GMP and safety precautions as outlined by the Kao Brands Co., all applicable agencies, and standard safety information sources (i.e. MSDS).
Quality Services Technicians will also provide adequate coverage for other laboratory areas, which includes Microbiology & Packaging Component inspections. Aseptic sampling, plating, media prep, and operation of Celsis instrumentation skills are required when called upon to work in Microbiology. The Quality Services Technician is also responsible for incoming inspections (sampling of incoming raw packaging components) according to SOP’s.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in chemistry, biology or microbiology and/or relevant experience in a technical area and quality experience in a regulated industry. Individual must possess excellent communication and organization skills, and exhibit competency in the release of bulk and finished products including but not limited to: the use of WinLims, SAP, and Crystal Report software systems, and ensure accurate completion of all necessary paperwork. Individual must also be willing to work OT on weekends to support plant production needs. Individual must be a team player with good troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills. Basic familiarity of SPC is a plus.
