Quality Technician Supervisor - FIRST SHIFT

A global leader in the manufacturing and production of commercial vehicles and equipment has a long-term contract position available for a Quality Technician Supervisor to work the First Shift.

Position Summary/Overview:

This Quality Technician Supervisor will be working under the supervision of one of Our Client's Managers from Oxford, MS, but will work at a vendor site in Memphis, TN. This vendor processes the “finishing” or plating for the couplings, hoses and parts that are manufactured at Our Client's Oxford, MS location.

Additionally, this position is on-site, overseeing the final finishing of parts before being shipped to the customer.

This QT Supervisor will:


  • Be very "hands-on" while on the production floor.
  • Be the final Approval/Quality Inspector to ensure that:


    • All finished parts meet strict standards.
    • Are ready to ship directly to the customer.


  • Supervise/oversee/schedule production for other line employees.
  • Thoroughly and accurately document all processes and actions, and report to Management.
  • Supervise and coach a team of cappers/inspectors.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to the following:


  • Managing and directing Cappers/Inspectors.
  • Being the primary contact for Plating-related defects and Quality Gate.
  • Documenting all non-conforming material in the Company database.
  • Working with the Quality Manager to:


    • Identify necessary corrective actions.
    • Facilitate the completion of these corrective actions.


  • Coordinating the completion of Customer Complaints, associated with plating defects produced at the vendor site.
  • Creating and maintaining all documentation for these areas of responsibility to support ISO9001:2000 and MQI2005.


Engineer Techs with a QC background in Manufacturing, Extrusion, and/or Finishing would be good fit for this position.

This is an estimated one year PLUS contract position, through Volt Workforce Solutions - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in Memphis, TN. Requirements:

Required Skills for this Quality Technician Supervisor position include the following:


  • Very strong background in successful Quality Control
  • Strong computer background and experience in most or all of the software listed below critical
  • Experience and/or familiarity with and ability to use or learn to use various gauges, calipers or other standard measuring tools
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Ability to problem-solve as well as quickly and efficiently determine solutions and direct team to follow instructions
  • 4-7 years of experience in a closely relevant work environment
  • Must be dependable, accountable and a self-starter
  • Should have experience as a Manager, Supervisor or at least a Lead or Project Manager where s/he directed duties of others
  • “Plating” and/or “Finishing” background or knowledge highly desirable
  • Previous training and/or experience working within a Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma environment where Quality Control measures and efficiencies defined within strict metrics
  • Computer Skills


    • Computer skills a must and prior use of the following software very beneficial:


      • Lotus Notes, Epix, Prism, InfinityQS, QSI, HVC, Word, PowerPoint, Kronos, Photo Editor, Visio, Access and PowerPoint preferred
      • Other similar software functions given consideration


  • Communication


    • Must be able to effectively communicate to all levels
    • Communication must be clear, to the point, logical and complete
    • Must be able to listen effectively


  • Customer Focus


    • Must be able to understand role of a service organization by providing timely and quality products and services


  • Quality Focus


    • Attention to quality in his/her own work and the work of others
