Title: R&D Manager, Wafer Thermal Processes
Reporting to: Director, Wafer Thermal Process and Layer Transfer R&D
Location: St. Peters, MO

Primary Responsibility:
Assists with the technical and managerial direction to projects in research and development for thermal wafer processing of silicon for the production of advanced semiconductor wafers. Supports and participates in the development of multidimensional designs involving aspects of solid state physics pertaining to the manufacturing of wafers. Assists and maintains specifications as well as provides strategic planning resources and tool requirements for the work. Participate in the evaluation of final results with research and development projects to assure accomplishment of technical objectives. Assists with the preparation and presentation of reports outlining the future of technical projects and offers recommendations for actions necessary to achieve desired results. Assists in the selection, development, and evaluation of personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Job Scope:
· Strong results-based leadership skills to lead a small group of scientists, engineers and technicians involved in cutting edge thermal technology development
· Ability to think strategically and set long term direction for thermal wafer processing of silicon materials technology development
· Ability to manage a budget and understand basic cost accounting, budgeting and finance
Knowledge:
· Understand the technology involved with thermal wafering such as epi and annealing and it’s impact to the manufacturing processes
· Able to understand customer needs and competitive solutions including the positioning of new product appropriately.
· Need to understand details of how product cost, capital etc, compare to competitive offering and distinguishing benefit of his/her development
· Able to manage budget/spend on a project to target and complete the project on-time
· Able to lead a small team of highly educated people to drive results
Education/Experience:
· Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 10 years of experience in developing and bringing new technology to the market at competitive costs and superior product capability
· Ten or more years of industry experience with semiconductor silicon materials, SOI or silicon wafer device fabrication and silicon materials science
· Semiconductor thermal equipment and processes experience or wafer manufacturing experience is preferred
