An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an
R&D Pilot Plant Technician located at UOP's Research and Pilot Plant facility in Des Plaines, IL. This position will be part of a 13 member Pilot Plant Operations Group.
Position Responsibilities: - Will primarily perform duties associated with the support of pilot plant operations including reactor loading, feed dispensing, feed vessel maintenance, cleaning of sample vessels, and maintenance of needed supplies for the plants.
- Will maintain the feedstock database and feeds on site.
- Handle all reactor loadings according to customer's desired criteria for custom loading specifications.
- The ability to work independently and interpret detailed loading instructions is required.
- The role will also support all team driven HS&E initiatives.
Basic Candidate Requirements: - High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 1 plus years experience working in the chemical industry.
- 1 plus years experience operating a fork lift is required.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, work on elevated platforms as well as climb ladders and portable lifts.
- US work authorization.
Additional Candidate Qualifications: - Ability to work independently and interpret detailed loading instructions.
- The ability to interpret and follow an extensive set of customer and company specifications.
- Intermediate math skills, Interpret measuring devices, and reading gauges.
- Intermediate typing skills and working knowledge of Word and Excel is required.
- Requires high level of attention to detail, and accuracy while under tight deadlines.
- Must possess good communication skills and be a team player.
- Ability to solve practical problems.
- Accurately follow work instructions, and meet company & customer expectations, as well as standard operating procedures without deviation.
- Be flexible and adaptable to cross training and performing/rotating between the various tasks in the department required to meet business needs.
