Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company, is a leading provider of fact-based research helping organizations and individuals make better business decisions, is seeking an individual to deliver primary research focused on specific business and information technology within the Security and IT-GRC practice. Partnering with the Research/Group Director and the sales team, the Researcher builds a market-facing presence through the completion of thought-provoking primary research. 

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with exceptional writing, analytical and critical thinking skills.  The selected candidate must have an understanding of quantitative and qualitative research concepts and tools. This is a post-entry level position, requiring 1-3 years of work experience, BA/BS or MBA at a good college or university.  We are seeking a smart, bright individual that loves to learn, has an inquisitive nature, and is interested in Security as it relates to IT.  Must live within commutable distance of downtown Boston.

 

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

·         Track and monitor emerging trends and technologies within the

      Security and IT-GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) practice

·         Conduct market research on new and emerging technology trends/business processes

·         Conduct industry competitive analysis

·         Conduct qualitative research interviews

·         Create and administer quantitative surveys

·         Conduct statistical analysis from data collected

·         Author  research reports and  derivatives

·         Conduct vendor briefings and meetings

·         Manage the research team’s research advisory council (RAC) activities

·         Manage relationships with research clients within The IT-GRC and Security practice

·         Develop relationships with the top 3-5 trade publication’s editorial staff to support their research and market voice  

·         Assist in the design and management of a commercially successful research agenda

 

 

Required Experience, Skills and Education:

 

·         1-3 years of practical work experience that includes proven research and writing

·         Bachelor's degree is required; Master degree/MBA strongly preferred

·         Ability to learn Aberdeen’s Research methodology and support tools (i.e. SNAP)

·         Growing awareness of technology and software functionality

·         Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research concepts and tools

·         Strong critical thinking and analysis skills

·         Excellent writing and editing skills with proven experience in publishing to timeline

·         Capable of translating technology into business benefits and plans in simple terms

·         Communicates well with people at all levels

·         High level of intelligence and business acumen; intellectually grounded

·         Can do and will do attitude

·         Learn it all perspective

·         Entrepreneurial spirit

·         Ability to work independently, self-motivating

·         High level of personal integrity

·         Organized and can manage multiple projects
