Florida Hospital Altamonte has recently renovated the Baby Place and we are looking for a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead our Perinatal team - Labor & Delivery, Mother Infant and Level I Newborn Nursery.
Come experience the difference of our fully renovated labor and delivery and private mother/baby rooms with added amenities to create special memories. Our dedicated team of nurses has more than 160 years of combined experience, caring for generations of babies.
- The newly renovated unit includes 18 private rooms, birthing rooms, and two birthday suites (spacious rooms with a home-like environment). We range between 80-100 deliveries per month.
- Lactation services are available seven days a week, as well as 24-hour in-house anesthesia services.
For critically ill infants, our maternity unit is backed by a Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital Orlando. A transport team is available 24-hours a day to transport critically ill neonatal patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Demonstrates through behavior, Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Care, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program.
• Demonstrates leadership skills through timely, appropriate decisions and organizational ability with appropriate priority setting. Directs and provides supervision of department employees. Monitors performance (evaluations completed on time), education requirements, and staff work hours. Provides counseling.
• Maintains professional competency by participating in continuing education and appropriate learning experiences, both internal and external. Attends pertinent conferences and seminars regarding clinical nursing, business or management.
• Acts as a resource to the Bed Management department regarding patient placement, transfer and appropriate clinical length of stay. Is responsible for assuring that patient assignments are based on acuity of patients and competency and skill level of staff.
• Utilizes patient, physician and employee satisfaction survey information in the development of unit activities. Oversees unit dashboards and creates action plans to support improvement. Develops Christian Service, diversity, retention and satisfaction plans annually. Shares data with staff. Involves staff in achieving unit goals through action plans. Supports the customer, physician and employee satisfaction activities of the organization.
• Rounds with intention on the unit and establishes customer satisfaction activities on the unit. Is a role model for the Mission and Values of Florida Hospital.
• Demonstrates effective communication with patients, families, employees, physicians and director. Conducts unit meetings and activities that foster staff communication.
• Provides a safe environment. Directs patient care activities and documentation. Gives patient care as needed.
• Performs investigation into accidents, critical incidents and complaints of patients, visitors, doctors and staff.
• Oversees fiscal activities. Utilizes resources effectively, through ordering, labor tracking and budget planning.
• Assumes twenty four hour responsibility for unit and takes call, as assigned.
• Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities and evidence based practice initiatives. Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Refuses to participate in unethical procedures.

Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse with global responsibility for the quality and continuity of patient care for specific age groups identified by the standards of care. The Nurse Manager:
- Provides leadership in the delivery of care and nursing practice within the clinical unit.
- Participates in unit employee selection through interviewing and the hiring process.
- Directs and evaluates all personnel according to hospital, nursing and unit philosophy and objectives.
- Is a role model and resource person guiding staff in the development of skills and capabilities.
- Develops unit activities that support the elements of extending excellence.
- Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
