The Opportunity

RPG Developer


Kforce has a client that is seeking a RPG Developer in Des Plaines, IL.

Roles and Responsibilities: Supporting their Manager in the following areas is the candidate's key responsibilities:

  • 75%: RPG Application Development (Supply Chain Management, Solution Development Life Cycle, ROI, and SOP)

  • 10%: DB2 Database, Integration, Data Exchange Admin and Support (DB2, API, Security, Compliance, and Quality)

  • 10%: System User Support (Call Answering, Response and Resolution, Escalation, Survey and Improve, and Emergency)

  • 03%: System Event Management and Operation (System Change and Risk Management, Monitoring and Auditing)

  • 02%: AS400 App-based RF and Local AP Admin and Support (Branch RF, Branch AP, and Branch Wi-Fi Cart)


  • RPG Development and Solution Life Cycle Development training and 2-year college degree

Technical Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with RPG development for IBM iSeries (e.g., RPG v4 or higher)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with DB2 database for IBM iSeries (e.g., DB2 v6 or higher)

  • Strong grasp of security principles and how they apply to logistics business applications

  • Preference: US Customs Logistics App Development in the Global Logistics Business

  • Communication and collaboration skills for both business and ISD teams (e.g., intentional listening and new proposals, ability to work well independently and within a team-oriented environment)

  • Presentation skills to explain the values of IT to the client's business teams (verbal/written, measurable and ROI)

  • Time management skills with multi-task assignments and strong analytical, problem solving abilities
