The Role

The Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ Property Department has an immediate opening for a Real Estate Acquisition Manager.  Reporting to the Real Estate Manager (North America), you will be a member of a small dynamic team that provides a wide range of property-related services for commercial real estate development across the Ritchie Bros. organization. You will be responsible for site identification, real estate acquisition and development approvals relating to new locations for Ritchie Bros. expanding infrastructure, primarily in US locations.  This position may be based in either Denver or Sacramento or Minneapolis or Dallas.

The Key Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in business management or commercial real estate. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with commercial or industrial real estate acquisition.
  • Thorough understanding and experience obtaining zoning and development approvals.
  • A solid understanding of site development and civil design is essential.
  • Work effectively in a multi-project, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and multiple shifting priorities.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.  Fluency in a second language is an asset.
  • Candidates with prior international experience will be preferred.
  • Ability to work within tight timelines and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving ability and analytical skills.
  • Superior organizational skills, with ability to prioritize assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work under your own initiative and to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture.  
  • Strong work ethic and a high degree of personal integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
  • A sense of humor and the ability to have fun on the job!

This position will require you to:

  • Travel over 60% time for up to 1 -2 week intervals, primarily within North America.
