Redmond, WA Lead Electrical Engineer
Candidate will be supporting an the product development and performance improvement of multiple commercial avionics navigation radios. Primary responsibilities include redesigning and repackaging a C-band radar and a VHF receiver to improve overall system performance. Redesign activities involve using AWR Microwave Office to simulate and design microwave circuits to improve transmitter and receiver performance. Candidate will also be responsible for coordinating circuit board layout, prototype unit build and engineering validation of design changes. Candidate will support formal qualification testing of the radar and perform root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for any test failures. As part of the product design cycle candidate will work with manufacturing and other engineering teams across the enterprise and be responsible for all aspects of releasing the design to production.
Candidate Basic Requirements:
*BS in Electrical Engineering.
*Minimum of 10 years related RF hardware design experience required.
*In-depth knowledge and experience in RF and microwave design from transistor to system level. Communication systems design is desired.
Candidate Desired Skills:
*Understanding of and commitment to variation tolerant design (Design for 6 Sigma).
*Wide range of RF/analog design and prototyping skills and experience; component modeling and test, PC board design and layout; EMI/RFI compliant design.
*Experience using high frequency simulation tools including Microwave Office, ADS, Designer (Serenade), or Eagleware. Also versed in 2D and 3D EM simulation tool application.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write technical requirements and procedures.
*Avionics industry knowledge including certification requirements and their impact on subsystem design is desired. (ref: DO-160x)
*Experience will include at least one assignment that included product detailed design, prototyping, and production introduction and support.
*Strong PC skills.
