Refinish-Development Chemist/Team Leader
About the Job
Main Activities/Duties/Responsibilities
Direct the activities of the team members in providing platform maintenance (customer and technical service), product development activity, new technologies/research, as well as global manufacturing consistency.
Principle accountabilities:
- Develop and direct the lab personnel in the support of each of the color platforms associated with the technology responsibility within their team
- Analyze Mktg/Sales/Customer feedback to ensure that each platform/technology is capable of delivering to the expectations of the business
- Developing relationships with our raw material suppliers to ensure that the required technical support is satisfactory to our business needs/priorities as well as allowing PPG the opportunity to evaluate new/leading edge technologies for their products
- Application of Six Sigma, Gatekeeper Process, ISO standards, Project Management, and other PPG Quality tools cross all business functions to ensure complete satisfaction for each of these disciplines
- Ensure global consistency and alignment of formulations by manufacturing facilities

Experience and Education
- Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering
Functional and Technical Skills
- 6 years experience in a technical lab environment with demonstrated paint formulation responsibility and success.
- Experience must include a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of global regulatory standards
