Qualifications:
Under the supervision of VP Pipe Sales, this position is accountable for sales and market development to achieve the profit objectives and market share goals for the Pipe business, and in conjunction with short- and long-range strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide leadership that includes coaching, training, and development of Mfg Reps.
•Provide close support in specification selling to consulting engineers and municipalities.
•Provide close support to contractor selling including trial jobs
•Provide support to distribution
•Timely feedback to marketing regarding market opportunities, competitive intelligence, product requirements.
•Deliver effective presentations and demonstrations of products and construction methods.
•Manage relations of high level major accounts.
•Strategic account planning and collaborative development with Mfg Reps.
•Responsible for annual sales and profitability targets (may include other goals—product mix, market share, distribution decisions).
•Provide sales forecasts monthly to senior management team and logistics group.
•Analyzes region, market, customer, and product mix to optimize effectiveness.
•Escalate and resolve pricing, product, service issues internally.
•In conjunction with Marketing, organize and implement promotional programs
•Manage budget for region including T&E
•Develop agenda and conduct annual/biannually regional sales meetings.
PROBLEM SOLVING:
•Hire/termination decisions with regard to sales personnel.
•Resolve pricing issues.
•Approves pricing on large job quotes.
•In support of business strategy, develops sales plans by territory
•Market, Customer, Competitive analysis to determine distributor performance, sales rep. performance, marketing impact. Makes decisions and/or impacts decision with intelligence gathered and presented.
•Determines long- and short-range (month-to month) sales forecasts based on qualitative and quantitative information gathered from field.
KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor’s degree. 8-10 years progressive experience in sales and/or marketing. Strong knowledge and demonstrated success selling through distribution channels. Ability to prioritize and organize.
Superior leadership, competitive spirit, and desire to win. Strong strategic-thinking and decision-making capabilities necessary. A proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding sales targets, penetrating new markets and developing new business.
TRAVEL: 2 - 3 nights per week.
