This Regional Vice President is responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategy and sales plan to produce maximum sales results for the scope of the region assigned. Ensures proper planning, resource identification and plan execution to achieve sales goals and expense management. Develops and implements sales budget, investment plans, policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Oversees the selection, training, direction and development of the sales management staff.
Additionally responsible to work with the SVP Sales in developing budgets/investment plans, goals and objectives which increase market share in our respective markets, Establish the Canvass Benchmark Reviews to ensure that the Investment Plan is being carried out effectively. Requires mid-canvass plans for troubled canvasses. Establish regional review processes to ensure proper management and pacing of canvasses. Manager development. Reviews and approves recommendations from their Division Managers regarding canvass timelines ensuring favorable positioning versus the competition. Works with the Regional HRM to review people and complete the Succession plan. Directs the interpretation and application of established sales policies throughout the regional organization. Reviews and/or formulates and recommends sales compensation program. Ensures full and consistent compliance of corporate sales budget. Supervises and directs Sales Management personnel. Maintains overall supervision of the company’s Sales Training Program. Monitors and evaluates all canvass activities. Conducts a continuing study of sales practices by travelling to subsidiary offices.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Four year business degree, MBA preferred. Minimum of ten to twelve years yellow pages sales experience. Must demonstrate the broad business acumen to develop sales goals, resource requirements, and top and bottom line results for a large geographic area. Must have a track record of directing the proper planning and execution of concurrent canvasses across multiple markets.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
The incumbent/candidate must possess strong leadership abilities with the ability to build a team. Good organization and communication skills required (verbal and written). Ability to share vision and gain buy-in (build loyalty). Charismatic leader. Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management. An in-depth understanding of the telephone directory business is a must. Must be analytically strong to establish sales goals, program ROI and balance top and bottom line requirements of the organization. Must be an independent thinker able to identify and diagnosis issues and make resource allocation decisions to ensure achievement of goals.
