Perform some of the routine functions of a physician such as determination of donor suitability, management of adverse events, donor deferrals, review of unsuitable test results, and support of special donor immunization programs, where applicable. Works under the direct supervision of the center manager and, for medically related issues, under the supervision of the center medical director. Follows guidance provided by the BioLife Chief Medical Director. In addition, provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).


  • Complies with federal, state, local and company-specific regulations related to quality of product, employee and donor safety and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities.
  • Determine donor suitability accurately and in a timely manner. This includes proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood and urinalysis testing, as required.
  • Evaluate and treat any donor adverse event, which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs.
  • Administer or supervise all approved donor immunization programs, except red blood cell (anti-D) immunization programs, if applicable.
  • Manage donor deferral; reviews test results and counsel donors regarding unacceptable findings.
  • Understand handling of Post Donation Information.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Able to satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for medical supervisors. Effective communication skills. Detail oriented. Customer service oriented. Willingness to work with other Medical Supervisors to ensure coverage of all operating hours..

Must be a graduate of a recognized educational program and be currently licensed or certified in the state where performing his/her Medical Supervisor duties.

Registered nurse, with 2 - 4 years experience.
