Nurse Manager Medical Surgical

The Nurse Manager is responsible for a med/surg nursing division, and has 24-hour responsibility for patient care and overall unit operations.  This person sets annual goals and operational and capital budgets.  The manager ensures quality patient care is delivered consistent with established contemporary standards for patient care services.  The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice.  The nurse manager maintains an effective and competent staff, using a variety of means.  This person exercises judgement in identifying and resolving issues and problems.  The manager applies both clinical and operational management skills to meet the established quality, patient satisfaction, and financial targets of the unit.  This person accomplishes all of the above in collaboration and partnership with physicians.

Must possess a Missouri license as a registered nurse.  Must have a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or actively pursuing a BSN.  The position requires a minimum of three years experience as a staff nurse, within the past ten years.

This person must have well-developed written and verbal skills.  Will also have analytical and problem solving skills necessary to successfully manage the operations of a nursing unit on an assigned shift.  The position requires the ability the effectively work with a variety of clinical software applications.
