With 672 beds, Methodist Hospital offers a broad range of specialities including cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine, neuroscience, maternity care, gynecology and orthopedics.

Our Orthopedics floor prides itself on its patient-focused attitude and currently consists of 22 beds to care for our post-operative orthopedic patients. Employees work 12 hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) and rotate weekend responsibilities.


General Statement of Duties:The Advanced Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to independently deliver nursing care to patients to achieve quality outcomes. Communicates effectively with good interpersonal skills with the health care team. Role models confidence and professionalism within nursing as evidenced by active engagement in unit and organizational activities. Demonstrates strong team work and adaptability and is seen as a resource person to the health care team. Consistently utilizes critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in providing holistic patient care. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing care services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction. Demonstrates proficient technical skills and operational knowledge of equipment. Completes thorough patient assessments. Documents the patient's response to illness, the useof coping mechanisms, emotional needs and assessment / reassessment of pain. Analyzesassessment data in determining patient problems/nursing diagnoses.2. Incorporates family into plan of care and documents a plan of care that is individualized foreach patient. Identifies individual goals and readiness to learn. Collaborates with physiciansand caregivers on establishing realistic outcome goals.3. Maintains current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstratingpractical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control. Thisincludes using: personal protective wear, good hand hygiene, and adhering to sharps safetyprocedures.4. Maintains an orderly, efficient and timely flow of patients.5. Administers medications and treatments safely using 2 patient identifiers and the 7 rights ofmedication administration. Recognizes and reports errors and unusual occurrences andanalyzes contributing factors.6. Prioritizes tasks and adjusts priorities when necessary. Serves as a resource to nursingpersonnel in implementing nursing care based on patient's needs, staff competencies, licensureand circumstantial/procedural complexities.

Required Skills:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of a nursing program: diploma, associate or baccalaureate degree.

Experience:
At least 1 year of experience as a RN in a med/surg environment - previous Orthopedics experience is a plus
Minimum License and Certificates Required: Valid and Current Texas License - Registered Nurse
