Job Description
Great opportunity for attorney to work in-house at a Fortune 500 company handling compliance and regulatory matter. Responsibilities will include: Deploys and manages and audits export/import compliance program. Audits compliance processes to ensure companies are following company policies. Analyzes and interprets requirements for compliance as they relate to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) of the U.S. Department of State; U.S. Customs and Border Protection; and other applicable Government Agency rules and regulations. Provides direction to business units and resolve matters pertaining to export/import transactions and International Trade Sanctions to ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. laws and regulations. Serves as the resident expert on export/import requirements, including regulations pertaining to the export of encrypted software. Advises order and shipping depts. of changes to the Denied Persons List, Specially Designated Nationals List, Entity List, Unverified List, and the Debarred List. Interacts with Engineering, project management, and procurement depts. to analyze and apply proper export classifications to new products and technology. Interfaces with BIS & other government agencies to obtain most optimal export classifications. Conducts training on government laws, rules and regulations, as well as companys policy and procedures, to counterparts Reviews Federal Register daily and communicate regulatory changes relevant to the company. Provides export compliance material for new-hire orientation program. Interfaces directly with the Export Compliance personnel on matters that pertain to policies, procedures and possible violation matters.
