Job Description
Reinsurance purchasing:
Assist reinsurance purchasers in
reinsurance purchasing process as required.
Maintain reinsurance contract
documentation. Ensure all documentation is complete.
Oversee entry contracts in
underwriting systems.
Authorize contracts once required
testing is complete.
Reporting to reinsurers:
Proportional Reinsurance –
Prepare, issue and pay/collect all insurance company cessions on
proportional contracts, including preparing, issuing and collecting
cash calls. Calculate, bill and collect profit commissions in
accordance with contract terms.
Excess of Loss contracts – Book
and pay deposits and prepare and pay premium true ups in accordance
with contract terms. Calculate, post, bill and collect excess of
loss recoveries, except for specialty excess of loss treaties. Also
calculate, bill and collect losses for shared excess of loss
treaties.
Manage facultative premiums
payment and loss billing and collection process
Resolve problems with reinsurers,
intermediaries and markets.
Manage commutations and
insolvencies of reinsurers.
Financial reporting:
Prepare and approve reinsurance
entries as defined in reinsurance quarterly close schedule.
Responsible for quarterly Schedule
F.
Manage acquisition and maintenance
of Letters of Credit.
Evaluate credit worthiness of
reinsurers quarterly.
Manage and report on collection
status.
Complete other assigned analyses
for external and internal reporting.
Manage balancing and control
process over insurance company reinsurance receivables and payables.
