The role of release manager requires strong coordination and organizational abilities. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills in order to be able to work across different groups to maintain a cohesive plan. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Should have working knowledge of a variety of software development lifecycles, develop SOP’s and deployment plans. Working experience with configuration management concepts and practices. Will be responsible for developing and maintaining a release plan with minimal supervision within a multi-team application development environment. Must be able to effectively collaborate with a diverse team of professionals (project managers, software developers, infrastructure teams, QA, Operations and other teams as needed) to generate a coordinated process for scheduling and releasing software from inception to production release. Should regularly propose and be ready to implement improvements within the organization’s planning practices. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills in a wide range of technical and business disciplines and be able to author and present technical material in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
Required Experience & Skills
ü A bachelor's degree (e.g. BS in computer science) and at least 3-5 years of industry experience in related position. PMP would be a plus. Other degrees will be considered with appropriate background and experience.
ü Practical application of software product development standards and methodologies: waterfall and iterative (e.g. Agile, Scrum, RUP, etc.).
ü Practical application of configuration management standards and methodologies
ü Strong knowledge of software life-cycles and software process management and improvement techniques (SEI CMMI or PMI PMBOK or SIX SIGMA)
ü Advise on and lead the implementation of new methods, tools or processes
ü Enforce the compliancy with PMO and enterprise architecture standards & processes for projects
ü Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
ü Strong verbal and written communication skills
