ATCOTS: Remote Pilot Operator (Field) Eastern Region











Job Description:



RTSC's Training Organization is currently seeking multiple, full time, on-site Remote Pilot Operators. These positions are in support of the FAA Air Traffic Control Optimum Training Solution (ATCOTS) program. Personnel selected will function in a position titled



Remote Pilot Operator for the Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility. These individuals operate a combination of CRT/keyboard/VCS to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. Remote Pilot Operators receive voice commands from student ATCS's, input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology, and respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.









Required Education and Skills:



Candidates for these positions must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience in a comparable position. Candidates must also demonstrate minimum keyboard speed of 40 wpm with 90% accuracy, possess an ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals, and an ability to speak clearly and be understood.





Other Requirements :



Able to interface effectively with FAA personnel at all levels to insure the training delivered at the local level is responsive to local needs, is comprehensive and of consistent high quality



With the Contract site Supervisor, able to continuously evaluate and receive and apply feedback as required.







Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:



Selections of the best-qualified individuals must be made based on factors such as previous work experience and aviation background. Experience as a computer operator, RPO, air traffic control specialist, or pilot is highly desirable.











Certification

The new RPO trainee must be certified by the FAA through successful completion of knowledge and skills tests for the area/sector to be supported.









The authorized Contracting Officer's Technical Representative may waive the certification process if an RPO was previously certified as an RPO, air traffic control specialist, or has other acceptable related aviation experience.
